The Winter Tag

Monday, 22 December 2014

Spot the photos from an earlier post of mine! sadly the lovely camera I borrowed to see how I took to a dslr has had to be returned to it's rightful owner and sadly now photos on my phone don't make the cut so come January a little investment may be happening!

I was tagged by the lovely Rose at The Rose Lifestyle to do the Winter tag. I was beyond excited, my first ever tag! I was beyond excited I feel like I've truly been welcomed into the blogging world (how cheesy is that) So here it goes, I hope you all enjoy this post, it's a little different to anything I've done before on here.

1. What's your favourite seasonal drink from either Starbucks/Costa or your cafe of choice?
It's not often really that I go to Costa or Starbucks I don't usually find time for myself to stop and have a drink while shopping however the other week myself and my boyfriend did some last minute Christmas shopping we stopped at Costa and had a drink and some cake My drink of choice? It was the gingerbread latte and it was divine! there was a little ginger bread man and stars sprinkled on top... need I say more?

2. What accessories do you opt for? Scarf/Boots/Gloves?
Scarf? check, boots? check and the occasional hat. I don't usually opt for gloves, I can't handle the on and off faf!

3. What's your favourite songs for this time of year?
I'm not massively into Christmas songs, if i had to pick one it would be the Pogues, Fairytale of New York, why? It's the least cheesy I think. Humbug much?

4. What scent or perfume do you find yourself favouring this time of year?
I don't actually own many perfumes! How bad is that... It's mainly due to the fact I've used them all up but if i had to choose one I still love? Marc Jacobs Honey.

5. What candle will you be burning this season?
I love candles, they not only fill the room with a beautiful scent but something about that orange flicker adds warmth and homely feel to a room. Which am i burning this season? I don't have just one to tie it down too but if I had too? Yankee Candles Cinnamon, its the ultimate Christmas scent.

6. What is it you love most about winter?
Knowing that although it's freezing outside were sat in our lovely living room warm and cosy watching a good film! Oh and the cats got to be there too... of course!

7. Your favourite make up look for winter?
I have a feeling that my answer may be very similar what everyone else's but it's got to be a red lip. My personal favourites are either the Nars Audacious in Jeanne or Tom Fords Black Dahlia, both of which I have done posts on. I tend to wear red more in the evening and I much prefer the deeper colours!

8.What are you most looking forward to this winter?
It's got to be the fact it's mine and my boyfriends first Christmas in our beautiful home. We've been here around 6 months now and even just buying and decorating our Christmas tree was exciting. But I also can't wait for Christmas day. My whole family gather at my parents house and we have the most amazing roast dinner which I cannot wait to eat! ]

I hope you enjoyed this post! A massive thank you to Rosie for the tag. I tag Linda from HILYCHEE if you haven't already seen her blog you need to check it out, her photos and posts are amazing. I also want to tag Zoe from Pretty Diamond Solitaire who is also a fabulous blogger and who's page i often turn too for a little read!

Our Living room this Christmas

Thursday, 4 December 2014

Hello everybody! I hope your all ok! Today's post is all about our house this Christmas! I thought i'd let you all take a little look at our Christmas decorations. We moved into our house in June and we've worked really hard to get as much decorating done as possible! We were super lucky with the house in that everywhere was painted in magnolia, but it was just a very quick paint over by the previous owners and just not our cup of tea at all... and not to mention everywhere was DARK wood (not our cup of tea at all) ... I say our cup of tea, I don't really think that my boyfriend was too bothered but i'm just not at all into dark wood, it made the house look so dull and let me tell you, sanding, priming and painting all the skirting, architraves, windowsills and even our staircase was HARD!  But less about the house itself and more on the Christmas decorations!

I went out really last minute on Sunday to get is some decorations because we had a tree just nothing to dress it! I went to Homebase (as I fell in love with Tanyas decorations) and then a local garden center near us because they just sell the most amazing decorations! I went for a gold, copper and cream theme, I just fell in love with the copper decorations! I really like the tradional red and green trees but I felt like these colours would compliment our living room more (green, cream and a grey sofa)

As it's our first Christmas here we don't have lots of decorations but I've tried to make the most of what we do have. This is just a little coppery colour candle holder with feathers printed on it (I got two of these) I love candles so much, they just make a room so cosy! This is just a little half moon table we have, this usually sits where out tree is currently!

So this is the tree! I just had to get the gold decorations which Tanya got because they were so beautiful, they were the only decorations I got from homebase, the small ones are primark ( I forgot I got these a while back) The beads are asda (again picked these up on a food shop one day) and everything else is from the garden center. I think my favourite ones are the little coppery leaves they're just so cute!

On our bookcase, here's the other candle holder and some pretty twinkly lights (these were from asda too!) I love fairy lights, they're so lovely and just make a room feel so cosy.

I tried not to make this one blurry but i'm not the best with cameras yet! I want more decorations but I'm quite picky, I really want some Merry Christmas bunting but all the ones I keep finding are red and I think i'd rather it be gold to match everything else (so if you find any let me know!). we need presents around the tree to cover the stand too!

Possibly the most un-arty/photographic photo ever!? But it just love the lights on the tree. I really hope you guys liked this post, i feel like I've worded it really formal. I hope your all enjoying the run up to Christmas as i am, I think its possibly my most favourite time of year I love all the decorations, spending time with my family and of course Christmas dinner!
